Notably, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, along with leaders of several major conglomerates, is expected to accompany the President, forming a significant economic delegation for this visit.

According to information published on April 16 on the website of the Office of the President of South Korea (대한민국 청와대), President Lee Jae Myung will make a five-night, six-day official visit to India and Vietnam from April 19 to 24. This information has also been confirmed by the Vietnam Government Portal. Notably, this visit will include a large-scale economic delegation.

According to information released by South Korean media on the same day, key business organizations such as the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries, and the Korea International Trade Association are jointly organizing a delegation of around 200 companies. The delegation is expected to take part in a series of business forums, promote investment networking, and sign memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with partners in the host countries. Notably, the delegation is expected to include several top conglomerate leaders, including Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo, and Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon.
Observers assess that this visit is likely to be closely tied to the announcement of large-scale additional investment plans. In fact, Samsung Electronics is operating large-scale manufacturing facilities as well as research and development (R&D) centers in the region, while also advancing plans to establish the Samsung Innovation Campus to enhance technological capacity and innovation.
At the same time, SK Group continues to expand its activities in the energy infrastructure sector, focusing on power plant projects and liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facilities. In addition, Hyundai Motor is considering increasing its investment to tap into the potential of the ASEAN market, while LG has gradually completed an integrated manufacturing complex serving the electronics and components industries.
President Lee Jae Myung’s leadership of a large-scale business delegation to Vietnam and India reflects South Korea’s increasingly clear focus on these two markets. The visit is not only of diplomatic significance but is also expected to provide a new boost to investment cooperation, particularly in high-tech industries, supply chains, and manufacturing. It is also seen as strengthening the role of Vietnam and India in South Korea’s regional economic strategy.
