(TAP) - August 22, 2025 marks a new milestone in the public service career of Westminster Mayor Charlie Nguyen Manh Chi, as he officially declares his candidacy for the United States House of Representatives, representing California’s 45th District.

According to the announcement released the same day, beyond his current role as Mayor, Charlie Nguyen Manh Chi has long contributed to key organizations and community initiatives. He previously served as an elected member of the Board of Directors for the Midway City Sanitary District, a Director of the Orange County Fire Authority, and a member of the League of California Cities’ Policy Committee on Housing, Community and Economic Development. With more than 10 years of public service as an elected official and over 30 years of active community engagement, Mayor Nguyen Manh Chi pledges a campaign centered on voters, ensuring their voices and interests remain at the heart of his work.
In outlining his priorities, Mayor Nguyen Manh Chi emphasized safeguarding values that reflect the district’s diversity, while promoting local economic development. He stated his determination to serve as a strong and trusted advocate, defending the rights, safety, and opportunities of residents, businesses, and families across California’s 45th District.

In his campaign statement, Mayor Nguyen Manh Chi stressed: “My campaign is focused on strengthening our district—economically, socially, and in quality of life for all residents, and I'm running for Congress because I want to see our district stand strong in protecting our legal residents, securing our borders, and defending the values that make this country exceptional.” He noted that California’s 45th District deserves a representative with experience, dedication, and vision: “We must ensure our neighborhoods remain safe, prosperous, and grounded in the principles of law and order.”
