Ngày đăng: 30/7/2025

(TAP) - The Investigation Police Agency of Can Tho City Police (Vietnam) has just issued a decision to prosecute two fraudsters selling amulets online.

According to the Electronic Information Portal of the Ministry of Public Security (Vietnam), the two subjects are Trần Thị Huỳnh Như (born 2000, residing in An Giang province) and Danh Lợi (born 2004, residing in Can Tho city). Based on the investigation results from the Vietnamese police, the two suspects sold spiritual items online to make money for personal spending, despite having no actual knowledge of amulets or spiritual practices. It was recorded that Nhu collaborated with Loi to carry out this act from mid-2024 until around February 2025. The female suspect also frequently livestreamed to promote and sell amulets and related items such as lipstick, balm and perfume used in making charms on social networks, with prices ranging from several hundred thousand to 7 million VND.

Meanwhile, Loi took on the role of a sorcerer. When customers have a need, Nhu will use her phone to record the "sorcerer" casting spells and send the video to gain trust. Using this trick, the two subjects have deceived many "gullible" victims. Vietnamese police have initially identified 8 victims. The total amount defrauded exceeds 65 million VND. On July 26, the Investigation Police Agency of Can Tho City Police issued a Decision to prosecute the accused, an Order prohibiting them from leaving their place of residence and a Decision to temporarily suspend their exit from the country for the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property". The case is currently under further investigation.

Domestic authorities have repeatedly warned people to be vigilant when accessing information on social networks, not to promote or support superstitious activities, and to avoid “losing both money and health”. When detecting such cases, citizens should immediately report them to the nearest police agency for appropriate handling in accordance with regulations.
